Wedding at Colwick hall Nottingham

Pre Lockdown Wedding at Colwick Hall, Nottingham

I’m really excited to share some of my favourite captures from Allanah & James’ wedding at Colwick Hall in Nottingham.

This year has brought some difficult times for couples and for the industry as a whole. Therefore it’s great when I have the opportunity to showcase something positive. We can’t let restrictions get in the way of how we capture the story of your day.

Who said restricted weddings can’t still be epic!

Having only captured 4 weddings in 2020 prior to this one, it was always at the back of mind if we were going to be a bit rusty, or if the imposed restriction meant we couldn’t deliver the standards expected. Those reservations were soon quashed when working with Allanah & James, who we’re both amazing. They put their faith in us and allowed us the time to get some lovely couple portraits which I know will look the business when printed in their wedding albums.

To be honest having a slightly different wedding format made things more interesting. It meant we wasn’t rushing to get couple portraits and it allowed us time to use that gorgeous sunset. Their wedding felt much more more laid back (without the feeling of having to be doing something in line with the usual formalities) and the reduced number of guests made things feel all the more intimate.

Overall things couldn’t have gone any better. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Myers!

Information & advice from the newly-weds

How long have you been together/Any stories about how you met?:

We have been together for nearly 5 years and we met at work.

Any stories or tales from the proposal?

James proposed at home after cooking a  romantic meal, he asked my dads permission beforehand which was lovely.

Reasons for choosing your venue?

We chose Colwick Hall because of the ballroom. It is so light and spacious whilst still having some character.

Theme/Style:

We went for a navy and silver colour scheme with white flowers. We wanted to keep the theme classic as we felt it was really in keeping with the style of the Ballroom at Colwick Hall, whilst having some wintery colours.

Any special thoughts/memories from the day?

One of our standout moments was the unexpected first dance. We didn’t really want a traditional first dance but ended up having an impromptu one whilst Matt was taking some photos and we really enjoyed it!

Any advice for couples planning a wedding?

Focus on the elements of the day are important to you. Don’t get drawn in to buying/booking things just because you think that’s what a wedding should have!
